New features of Little Snitch 6

Blacklist

• Enhance support for blacklists, similar to Little Snitch Features found in Mini.
• Conveniently select from a selected blacklist organized by theme (such as ads, tracking, malware, etc.), allowing you to enable these blacklists with just a few mouse clicks.
• Automatic daily updates ensure that your blacklist remains up-to-date when maintainers add new entries.
• Improve filtering performance when filtering network connections based on large blacklists.

DNS encryption

• Now all DNS queries can be securely transmitted to the DNS server of your choice through encrypted connections, ensuring enhanced privacy when browsing web pages.
• Configurable system wide DNS encryption.
• You can set> in Little Snitch; Enable in DNS encryption.
• The predefined configuration is suitable for the most popular DNS encryption services, allowing you to start using it with just a few mouse clicks.

Network activity monitoring

• Improved design of user interface for network monitoring.
• Introduce a refurbished traffic chart for clearer visualization and analysis of network activities.
• Multi functional grouping options for connections in network monitoring. Connections can now be grouped not only by process, but also by domain/server or by country. This way, you can clearly see all applications connected to specific countries or domains at a glance.
• Now, all connections related to an application are concentrated under one entry in the connection list, including incoming connections and connections established through auxiliary tools.
• Configurable flow meter appearance: Select two types of flow activity indicators in the map - either display the current active real-time meter (such as in Little Snitch 5), or display a new thumbnail chart that displays the last five minutes of history (such as in Little Snitch) In Mini.
• Improved the readability of the connecting lines displayed in the map.
• Display named location labels in the map.

Status menu

• Renovated status menu, including animated traffic charts, information about recent network activity and recent denied connections.
• Configurable flow meter appearance: Just like in network monitoring, you can now choose to display two types of flow activity indicators in the menu bar: either display the current active real-time meter, or display a new thumbnail chart that displays the last five minutes of history.

Create and manage rules

• A new type of rule allows notifications to be displayed in the notification center when specific types of network activities occur.
• Can create rules for "any macOS process" and "any emulator process".
• A locally editable rule group that allows you to organize rules by topic and enable or disable multiple related rules at once.
• Directly attach notes from the connection alert to the newly created rule.
• Rules now identify processes based on their encrypted code signatures, regardless of their location in the file system. This enables rules to resist moving or renaming applications. The previous path based recognition is still available as an option.
• A bidirectional rule that matches incoming and outgoing connections from/to specific IP addresses or ranges.
• Improved Homebrew support. The rules for Homebrew executable files are now independent of the version number in the executable file path.

sound notification

• Obtain sound feedback when a specific type of online activity occurs.
• Even if you are not actively watching the network monitoring window or even not looking at the screen, be aware of this type of network activity.
• Choose from the interesting changes in the built-in notification sound.
• Some sounds are modulated, which can also indicate the amount of data currently being transmitted.

Statistics on the use of rules and blacklists

• Check how many times a rule or blacklist entry has been used and the last time it was used.
• Sort the rule list by "last used date" or "usage count".
• The new "unused" filter can help you quickly find rules that have not been used for a while.
