Every time the software attempts to establish an outgoing network connection, Little Snitch will notify you. You can allow or deny these connections, or define rules to automatically handle future attempts. Little Snitch can reliably prevent your private data from being sent to the Internet without your knowledge.

Once you connect to the network, applications have the potential to send any content they want to anywhere they want. In most cases, they do this for your benefit. But sometimes, such as in the case of tracking software, Trojan horses, or other malicious software, they won't.

But you didn't notice anything because all of this happened invisibly under the hood.

Little Snitch

Make these Internet connections visible and take control again!

Alarm mode

Whenever an application attempts to connect to a server on the Internet, Little Snitch displays a connection alert, allowing you to decide whether to allow or deny the connection. We will not transmit any data without your consent. Your decision will be remembered and automatically applied in the future.

silent mode

If you are a novice at Little Snitch, you may be overwhelmed by a large number of notifications from applications that want to connect to the network. The brand new silent mode has been rebuilt from scratch, making it easy to deal with them. It allows you to temporarily disable all notifications and easily make all decisions at once in the future. Just click a few times.

The world of network connectivity

A network monitor is a window into the world of network connectivity. View Mac's network activity from three perspectives - application and server list, global network connectivity, and one hour data traffic history.

Server, where is it?

Have you ever thought about where your data is being sent to in the world? The network monitor displays the locations of all servers connected to the Mac on an interactive world map. The animation connection line provides a clear overview of the currently transmitted data and blocked connections.

  1. Real time traffic graph

The detailed traffic history of the past 12 months provides a powerful tool for analyzing various data connections.

  1. Corresponding rules

Quickly identify the reasons for allowing or denying specific connections.

  1. Connecting hierarchical structures

Connect by domain (such as Apple.com or Google.com) and group them in a hierarchical structure for easy navigation.

  1. Dark or light colored appearance

Choose the appearance that best suits your personal taste.

  1. statistics

Identify processes and servers that create the highest amount of data, etc.

  1. Connection Details

An integrated research assistant with code signature checking and geographic information.

  1. Quick filters and location search

Search for specific locations or use the filter menu to follow all rejected connections.

  1. Data volume and bandwidth

Observe the data volume and bandwidth of each process, domain, or server.

New features of Little Snitch 6

Blacklist

  • Enhance support for blacklists, similar to Little Snitch Features found in Mini.
  • Conveniently select from a selected blacklist organized by theme (such as ads, tracking, malware, etc.), allowing you to enable these blacklists with just a few mouse clicks.
  • Automatic daily updates ensure that your blacklist remains up-to-date when maintainers add new entries.
  • Improve filtering performance when filtering network connections based on large blacklists.

DNS encryption

  • Now all DNS queries can be securely transmitted to the DNS server of your choice through encrypted connections, ensuring enhanced privacy when browsing web pages.
  • Configurable system wide DNS encryption.
  • You can set> in Little Snitch; Enable in DNS encryption.
  • The predefined configuration is suitable for the most popular DNS encryption services, allowing you to start using it with just a few mouse clicks.

Network activity monitoring

  • Improved design of user interface for network monitoring.
  • Introduce a refurbished traffic chart for clearer visualization and analysis of network activities.
  • Multi functional grouping options for connections in network monitoring. Connections can now be grouped not only by process, but also by domain/server or by country. This way, you can clearly see all applications connected to specific countries or domains at a glance.
  • Now, all connections related to an application are concentrated under one entry in the connection list, including incoming connections and connections established through auxiliary tools.
  • Configurable flow meter appearance: Select two types of flow activity indicators in the map - either display the current active real-time meter (such as in Little Snitch 5), or display a new thumbnail chart that displays the last five minutes of history (such as in Little Snitch) In Mini.
  • Improved the readability of the connecting lines displayed in the map.
  • Display named location labels in the map.
  • Automatically update the geographic location database to improve accuracy and reliability.
  • Improved the display of App extensions in the connection list.
  • More powerful search and filtering options.

Status menu

  • Renovated status menu, including animated traffic charts, information about recent network activity and recent denied connections.
  • Configurable flow meter appearance: Just like in network monitoring, you can now choose to display two types of flow activity indicators in the menu bar: either display the current active real-time meter, or display a new thumbnail chart that displays the last five minutes of history.

Create and manage rules

  • A new type of rule allows notifications to be displayed in the notification center when specific types of network activities occur.
  • Can create rules for "any macOS process" and "any emulator process".
  • A locally editable rule group that allows you to organize rules by topic and enable or disable multiple related rules at once.
  • Directly attach notes from the connection alert to the newly created rule.
  • Rules now identify processes based on their encrypted code signatures, regardless of their location in the file system. This enables rules to resist moving or renaming applications. The previous path based recognition is still available as an option.
  • A bidirectional rule that matches incoming and outgoing connections from/to specific IP addresses or ranges.
  • Improved Homebrew support. The rules for Homebrew executable files are now independent of the version number in the executable file path.

sound notification

  • Obtain sound feedback when a specific type of online activity occurs.
  • Even if you are not actively watching the network monitoring window or even not looking at the screen, be aware of this type of network activity.
  • Choose from the interesting changes in the built-in notification sound.
  • Some sounds are modulated, which can also indicate the amount of data currently being transmitted.

Statistics on the use of rules and blacklists

  • Check how many times a rule or blacklist entry has been used and the last time it was used.
  • Sort the rule list by "last used date" or "usage count".
  • The new "unused" filter can help you quickly find rules that have not been used for a while.

Other new features and improvements

  • Custom option to disable the display of specific types of notifications in the notification center.
